One Room Challenge Fall 2016 {week four}

Posted on October 26, 2016

And just like that we’re on to Week Four of the One Room Challenge. Thanks once again to Linda from Calling It Home for inviting Erin and I along for this crazy ride! Even a month into it we’re still beyond thrilled to be included with the other nineteen immensely talented designers. With Week Four I’m feeling like I turned a corner and things are visibly starting to come together. If you missed out on the action over the last few weeks you can catch up here: WEEK ONE WEEK TWO WEEK THREE  One of the best changes this week is that the mantel wall no longer looks like a bundle of 2 x 4’s! I’ve got actual drywall up! My friendly neighborhood drywaller took care of that. Bob the drywaller literally lives down the street and sees it as his duty to keep the walls in our neighborhood looking good – …

Posted on October 19, 2016

If you’re here for the first time – Welcome! and if you’re already a reader of Suburban B’s – Welcome back! It’s Week Three of the One Room Challenge and what’s tough about this week is that things always seem to get real and really scary. As in – “Can I really pull it all together in time?” Right now it’s that whole two steps forward and one mighty big step backwards phase with a deadline staring me down. For today’s progress report I’ve got the good, the bad and some seriously ugly to share with you. Oh and I do have a special treat to share too; after all it is almost Halloween! Here’s what happened this week. Let’s start with the good because that’s always the prettiest way to start. Kelli Kroneberger put the finishing touches on my painting for over the mantle. Here’s the painting all set to meet my One Room Challenge. Kelli’ll …

Affordable green velvet sofas

Posted on October 17, 2016

Thanks for your enthusiasm and all the kind comments on my first two posts for the One Room Challenge ( if you missed them you can catch up here & here). Today’s not an official ORC post day but I wanted to use my room as a jumping off point to talk green velvet sofas. One element of my room that everyone seems to be connecting with are the green velvet couches. I’m majorly in love with them myself and can’t wait for them to arrive! Did you see that green is going to be BIG in 2017? So says Domain, Elle Decor, Behr and Sherman Williams. Not that that really matters – we’ve had green velvet dreams for years but it is fun to think you’re right in step with a new trend! In case you too are looking to bring that green into your house I’m here to enable you – I …

One Room Challenge Fall 2016 {week two}

Welcome everyone and thanks for stopping by! If you’re new here I’m Tricia – one half of the duo behind Suburban B’s. Erin and I blog about all things suburban and how we’re transforming our builder spec homes into spaces we love. This is week two of the One Room Challenge hosted by Linda of Calling It Home. Twenty designers have just six weeks to completely transform a room. Reveal Day is four short weeks away and there is a lot to get done before then! Week Two did not conforming to my grand plan. And just to remind you – here’s the grand plan: Not only am I revamping the family room but I’m also taking on the kitchen & the breakfast nook to keep things really exciting! If you missed Week One where I laid out my plan for the spaces you can check it all out here. This is how this week went: …

Changing up the exterior with paint and a wood garage door

Posted on October 10, 2016

Goodness, this whole writing a post and sharing a before and after project is starting to feel foreign to me! I could give you all the reasons for my lack of posting but when it comes right down to it, I’ve been busy. Busy with taking new clients and building up Everyday Interior Design, busy raising three kids, busy trying to get myself into amazing shape before I turn 40, and just busy with life. Also- I haven’t had a ton of new projects in my own house to share. Things have slowed down in the house as we have made over almost every room in our house now. And you know what that means- time to move! Which isn’t a complete joke. We are currently in escrow on a lot that we plan to build a custom home on. But the current plans won’t have us building for a …
