Midweek musings January

Did you have a good long weekend? We headed up to the mountains and hung out at the cute little Mod Lodge condo in Frisco. If you’re looking for a base for winter fun in the Colorado Mountains you can’t beat it – great decor, down duvets, super clean AND a freezer packed with cookie dough and good coffee. A brilliant marketing ploy to make the kids and the grown-ups happy. It worked. Plus it gave me a great place to work on this round of the midweek musing! The family skied with friends while some minor surgery on my feet kept me back at the condo. Skiing would’ve been fun but a couple days by myself with nothing that needed to be done was beyond heavenly. All that down time meant I could leisurely peruse the web and find all sorts of interesting and beautiful things. I love this video – it’s never …

Hi All – I was really hoping to give you an update on the latest changes in my daughter’s room today. But, it not happening and I’m not feeling too bad about it. The kids go back to school in less than two weeks and for the last little bit of summer I want to spend time with them. Plus now that Mr. Man is residing in Houston we’re putting our condo on the rental market. I want to squeeze in as much urban living as much as possible in this last month. The only drag to city living is that it’s like 20th century city living as we neither have internet or cable. It’s like living in a cabin in the middle of the city – the kids read books, build puzzles or fight. For me it means no blogging, no surfing and trying to conserve my data package. …

Do any of you do a Summer Manifesto? This is our second year creating one and we’ve got a whole lot to squeeze in over the next two and a half weeks. Tonight Erin and I are taking the kids to see Danielle Ate the Sandwich and that will check off the “take the kids to see an outdoor concert” for me. As a very pale Irish girl I like to wear hats in the summer but there’s one big, big problem – my big, fat, oversized Irish peasant head. At least it matches nicely with my Irish peasant thighs. I’m desperately hoping that when I hear back from Yosuzi they’ll tell me that of course they do custom sizing as that One Size Fits All business is of course a joke. Obviously my life won’t be complete unless this hat gets into it somehow someway. I’ve always loved the preppiness …

Obviously Erin and I are rocking the blog posting this week. It’s that last week of school thing and there’s so many extra activities (like running around buying all those teacher gifts and field day and everything else) that blogging time this week is scarce. In keeping with that line of thought today’s post is just a quickie. 1. Sometimes something hits you just right. For me that happened about a six weeks ago. I was in spin class and the instructor said she was so excited U2 was coming to Denver! That is until she saw the price of the tickets. According to Meredith, Bono was going to have to do a whole lot more than just sing if she was going to pay $300 for a ticket. As I was sitting on that bike seat trying not to die I decided she would go to that concert! I am …

Instead of spending my day doing something useful like working on a project for the blog I’ve had the joy of instead heading to all the wireless phone stores to shop their myriad calling plans. This was not how I planned my day but when you drop your phone just so causing the case to crack, the screen to shatter and the phone to split apart getting a new phone takes precedence over all else. Besides dealing with the nuisance of a phone that doesn’t work I’m also forced to recognize the depth of my instagram addiction. I feel a cold sweat and a bad case of the DT’s coming on. And are you wondering what came of all my phone research? Those ads certain companies air about buying out your old plan – not really happening unless you have 2 months or less to go. So, in the end …
