Friday Five {February}

Hi everyone – hope you’re Friday”s off to a good start! It’s been a while since I’ve done a Friday Five and as I’ve got a small window of time it’s the perfect post for today.  Friday is shaping up to be a ultimate suburban bitch day – I’m starting off by getting my hair done did. That’s a half day affair when you’ve got as much crazy hair as I do! Then there’s the afternoon drinking party followed by the evening wine tasting party. Yep. It’s rough here in the ‘burbs. Usually the Friday Five has a theme like summer fun with kids, blogs to follow or current obsessions. Today’s is strictly based on random thoughts as that’s what my brain is all about right now. 1. Check out Henry! So this is really making my day! Sweet Julia is featuring Henry and me today on her blog Cuckoo 4 …

Friday Five {kitchen favorites}

Sorry for the silence on my end this week. I had a pretty busy week working at Everitt and Schilling, doing fun things like picking out 3 different finish options for some really cool houses that are getting built. I’ve been learning how fun it can be to pick out tile, countertops, wood flooring, etc for other people! At first I thought that by taking this job at a seriously beautiful showroom filled with amazing products I’d come home each night ready to re-do every room in my house but luckily that hasn’t happened! Now I get to express my creativity with clients and their remodels- and the best part is that I don’t have to spend my own money!! In my own home things are moving along with the kitchen remodel. Yesterday my AMAZING carpenter came over and started installing the upper cabinets. Here’s a sneak peek for y’all: …

The Friday Five {2015 Design Trends I can do}

Posted on

So how many of you embraced 2014’s Pantone color of the year – Radiant Orchid? I’ve got a feeling the numbers on that are way low. I was not one of them. Likewise I don’t plan on doing much with Marsala – the 2015 color of the year. I’m a dedicated wine drinker and Marsala is not in my wine repertoire and it isn’t going into my decorating one either. I can say the same of the olive, rust and aubergine that are all supposedly colors of the moment. I don’t really care how “in” a color is if it’s going to make me depressed,sad and just want to shove a brownie in my mouth. But you know, every girl likes to be a tad trendy now and again. There are some 2015 design trends I can get on board with and maybe even hang with (thus losing any trendiness …

Friday Five {Thanksgiving}

Posted on

It’s the countdown to Thanksgiving – just another 13 days! Are you ready? We are gracefully bowing out of the Thanksgiving chaos for the second year in a row. Last year we took the kids to the Denver Aquarium for their Thanksgiving buffet. Let’s just say  that’s where you end up when you book late but at least the kids loved it. This year we’re going to attempt something a bit more grown up at one of Denver’s finer hotels. We’ll stay on in the city for the lighting ceremony the next night and have a fun, relaxed, happy weekend. I’m used to mass numbers of people cramming into my grandmother’s undersized town home – aunts, uncles, cousins, second cousins and probably perfect strangers she pulled out the street thinking they were cousins. If I can’t have chaos and family around like that I’d rather go to the opposite extreme. …

Friday Five {Halloween}

Right now I’m enjoying a freshly brewed cup of coffee picked up from one of the many nearby drive-thru coffee stands. Obviously I’m not at home because that’s the one thing missing from Fort Collins that would make it perfect. I thought I was going to die when I first move to Colorado, I had a newborn and had no easy access to a skinny vanilla latte. I’m in the land of coffee, wine, wild waves and snow capped mountains otherwise known as Oregon for the weekend and you can bet I’ll be heading to a coffee stand at least once a day. We get to stay at my friend Lyn’s house again. Do you remember our Peeping Bitches’ tour of her house from last year? Lyn is the queen of Halloween decorating and staying at her house has me finding my missing Halloween spirit. 1. Halloween Cocktails To really get yourself …
