Jennifer Little and HeyDay

Posted on

Today I’m sharing one of our favorite places to shop, Heyday. A couple years back when Erin and I attend Alt Summit we were lucky enough to meet Jennifer Little our first night there. I think we were both immediately struck by her sense of style and her love of fun! If that wasn’t good enough it turned out she lives about 3 miles up the road from us and has worked absolute magic on her suburban home.  We were lucky enough to feature a tour of her home. Jenn has mad photography skills and she’s helped us out on the blog on several occasions like with Erin’s post on her back deck   and mine on my closet remix. Then a unique opportunity came Jenn’s way. Part of her neighborhood included an old farm. Instead of tearing down the farm the developer chose to turn it into an artisan …

Back to school {photo shoot}

Posted on

What do you do on a hot sticky mosquito filled evening? Why take eight kids over to an old school for a photo shoot! They might have been protesting they didn’t want to do it but they all had a blast. Erin and I loved it too because we got to work with some of the best people around and got to see the kids’ in their favorite back to school looks. How cute were all our little ones, if I do say so myself? Rachel Olsen of Rachel Olsen Photography took the most amazing shots of our kiddos and even provided her own children as models! To make the shoot extra special Lace and Lilies provided the beautiful wreaths and floral accessories. The flowers in the first wreath are bay leaf and calcynia. Alice’s wreath has pink/peach ranunculus, purple allium bullet, queen anne’s lace and calcynia. Elizabeth’s wreath is pink ranunculus, calcynia, astilbe, …

Back to School {Zara}

Posted on

Are you as excited about back to school as I am? Over the last two weeks of summer we had encounters with the stomach flu, colds, strep throat and scarlet fever (I didn’t even know that really existed outside of gothic romance novels).  I have definitely earned sending my kids away for the day! Number 1 started middle school on Monday and Number 2 started at her school yesterday. I might have been straight out the door to go celebrate with Bloody Marys after she left. I had contemplated making it a productive day but then my husband reminded me that a day started with a Bloody is always a good one. Where are your go to places for back to school shopping? I seem to find myself at GapKids, J. Crew Factory and Target. I always forget about Zara. Do you know about Zara? It is a Spanish department …

A Year of Change Challenge {March project}

Posted on

Do you ever get so overwhelmed by the idea of decorating a room that you end up doing absolutely nothing?  The walls stay that ugly color.  The boob light stays on the ceiling and you never actually figure out if you want a roman shade or panels. Erin and I have both been there.  Maybe you remember Erin’s reveal of her upstairs bonus room that is basically a couch in a room?  Oh, and wait until I reveal my guest room next month for the One Room Challenge.  You’ll get to see what a mishmash of undone that room is.  Maybe we’d have more people come to stay with us if I actually did something in that room! Erin and our friend Amy of Commona-My House were chatting at Alt Summit about design inertia and how sometimes, if you just tackle one little project in a room, you can get …
