A Year of Change recap

Last March we introduced you to the “Year of Change.” Each month we, along with our with our friends Amy of Commona My House, Rosa of Rosa Beltran Design and Sarah of Life on Virginia Street introduced a new challenge that could help you transform your house one doable project at a time. I’ll admit, some months those projects seemed more daunting than others and sometimes those changes happened at the very tail end of the month. But, if we hadn’t set ourselves up for with those challenges, there’s a whole lot less that would have gotten done around our house this year. It was a fun year but now it’s time to kiss the Year of Change goodbye (don’t worry – we’ll be introducing a new long term challenge for all of you to play along with shortly) but before we say syonara completely we wanted to show you that …

An updated girl’s room

There’s nothing like getting a move on those New Year’s Resolutions right away to make you feel like a stellar person. Last week I shared my resolutions and #2 was to finally finish up my daughter’s bedroom re-do. And BAM! Only 14 days into January and I’ve already got one resolution complete. That should help with my barely passing grade on last year’s resolutions. My not so little girl is almost ten and it was time to shift away from a room perfect for a first grade to one better suited to a tween.  (I’m misting up at the thought of another tween in our house.) This was my original plan for the room. Lots of pink, white, grey and aqua. This was her little girl’s room. The first thing to go was the scrapbook papered wall. A Year of Change Challenge {March project}

Do you ever get so overwhelmed by the idea of decorating a room that you end up doing absolutely nothing?  The walls stay that ugly color.  The boob light stays on the ceiling and you never actually figure out if you want a roman shade or panels. Erin and I have both been there.  Maybe you remember Erin’s reveal of her upstairs bonus room that is basically a couch in a room?  Oh, and wait until I reveal my guest room next month for the One Room Challenge.  You’ll get to see what a mishmash of undone that room is.  Maybe we’d have more people come to stay with us if I actually did something in that room!
