Kitchen Progress Update {THE REVEAL!!!}

The day has finally come when I can put a nail in the kitchen remodel coffin. The day actually came about 3 weeks ago when I gave up on the backordered grasscloth to put in the back of my glass front upper cabinets and decided to just paint the inside. And really, I should have done that a long time ago! Anyways, I am excited to share some pictures of the kitchen after taking on a mini-remodel of the space over the past 6 months. Just to highlight, here are things that were changed in the space: Upper kitchen cabinets were built to fill the space previously left unoccupied. Surround kitchen cabinets were painted Benjamin Mooore Northern Cliffs by Summit Cabinet Coatings. This amazing herringbone backsplash from E & S Tile replaced the travertine subway backsplash. New lighting was installed over the kitchen island. Granite countertops on the kitchen island …

A countertop decision made- and installed! {Kitchen Update #5}

The end is close. So so close folks. This kitchen remodel that I started in the beginning of 2015 is wrapping up. And I’m so excited to reveal the full room with some professional pictures but I’m waiting on backordered grasscloth to arrive before that can happen. In the meantime, how about I finally let y’all know about what I chose for the kitchen island countertop? To give you a quick recap of the island countertop choosing process here’s where I started. We had a granite countertop which was dark and not really my style. The whole idea of the kitchen remodel was to lighten up the space and keeping the granite wasn’t going to give me the look I wanted. There was really no reason beyond aesthetics for replacing the countertop. My original thought was to replace the countertop with quartz. Quartz sounded like the easiest upkeep while getting close …

Friday Five {kitchen favorites}

Sorry for the silence on my end this week. I had a pretty busy week working at Everitt and Schilling, doing fun things like picking out 3 different finish options for some really cool houses that are getting built. I’ve been learning how fun it can be to pick out tile, countertops, wood flooring, etc for other people! At first I thought that by taking this job at a seriously beautiful showroom filled with amazing products I’d come home each night ready to re-do every room in my house but luckily that hasn’t happened! Now I get to express my creativity with clients and their remodels- and the best part is that I don’t have to spend my own money!! In my own home things are moving along with the kitchen remodel.
